Neighborhoods First: Every Resident Counts, Every Street Matters

In the 5th Ward, we know that every resident counts, every street matters, and local voices must be heard. Strong neighborhoods are the foundation of a thriving city, and as your Councilmember, I will put neighborhood priorities first in every decision the Council makes.

• Listening to Local Voices -- The people who live here know best what our neighborhoods need. I will make sure residents have meaningful input in city planning and investment decisions, particularly for projects that impact daily life in the 5th Ward.

• Investing in a Family-Friendly Downtown -- Downtown Eureka continues to be a vibrant heart of our community—where families come together for entertainment, cultural events, and everyday life. I support intentional investments that make downtown more accessible, welcoming, and inclusive to family-oriented activities, including festivals, arts events, and public spaces that bring neighbors together. Organizations like Eureka Main Street are already working to revitalize our historic commercial district and foster a welcoming downtown environment.

• Supporting Community Events and Activities -- Our city already hosts a range of family-friendly events—from street art festivals and seasonal celebrations to outdoor concerts and community mixers—that enrich neighborhood life and strengthen social ties. I want to build on this tradition to expand opportunities for residents of all ages. 

• Making Neighborhoods Safe and Livable -- Investment should also mean well-maintained streets, reliable services, and safe public spaces where children can play and families can enjoy their surroundings. By aligning neighborhood improvements with resident feedback, we can ensure that every block in the 5th Ward reflects our shared values.
